Island of Dugi Otok
Dugi Otok (Croatian for “Long Island“) is an island situated west of Zadar. It got its name from its distinctive shape. It is around 50 km long and wide only 5 km on average.
Like its neighbouring islands it has been too settled since prehistoric times. There are 10 settlements on the island today.
Since it is a bit further away from the mainland than its neighbouring islands it is a relatively less popular tourist destination. This makes it an ideal place to visit for those who want to enjoy a more peaceful and relaxing holiday away from all the crowds of tourists at more popular destinations.
The island has many interesting features worth visiting like the beautiful sandy Sakarun beach and Telašćica park of nature.
